Ray Bourque is a Canadian former professional NHL ice hockey player. Bourque won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's best defenceman 5 times, while finishing second for that trophy a further 6 times. He holds records for most career goals, assists, and points by a defenceman in the NHL. Bourque twice finished second in the voting for the Hart Memorial Trophy.

 Bourque was also an Olympian with Canada.  He became Boston's longest-serving captain, in which he played 21 seasons. He won his only Stanley Cup championship in his final NHL game with the Colorado Avalanche. In 2017, he was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players.
